Serac, session 2018-2019

“Reach the altitude, and let determination take the wheel.”

Serac is a pinnacle, sharp ridge, or block of ice among the crevasses of a glacier.

Seracs are tough and take up the form of a tall column, implying our resolve to reach new heights in organising our activities. We, as a cabinet, will set high goals and make sure our functions maintain top-notch quality throughout the year. The formation of a serac involves stacking countless water droplets, which is a metaphor for the collaboration between the Executive Committee and its Members. The location of a serac is also a huge inspiration, for we are willing to reach the summit just to perfect our activities.

This year, we would like to focus on hot topics surrounding geography, geology and archaeology, be it local or global issues. Among these issues, global warming, a phenomenon that leads to the melting of ice caps, is the most contentious and urgent problem that is plaguing the world now. Hence, we have chosen the name “Serac” to show that we are aware of this topic. Moreover, with regard to the objects of this session, we also hope to promote the relationship between human and nature by raising awareness of these issues.

We, Serac, as a cabinet, aspire to become the best of the best.
