Arete, session 2016-2017
“The higher you stand, the further you see.”
Arete is a geographical term, which refers to the rugged thin ridge of rock formed by glaciers. The road leading to the destination is arduous and may not be a plain sailing for us in the coming year. Yet, we are eager to embrace challenges, hold fast to our values and overcome the insurmountable hurdles ahead just like the arete which can withstand harsh environment. No one can reach the summit of the mountain alone. However, with the collective effort of Arete, we will be able to venture into the unknown and reach higher. Our cabinet commits to endeavor and strive for excellence during the journey of promoting geography, geology and archaeology. Not only do we want to elicit Students’ interest in these aspects, we would also like to instill value of environmental protection to our Members.
In Greek, Arete also entails the meaning of excellence. When twelve geography-lovers of distinctive strengths and uniqueness come together, we complement each other and inch our way towards success. With our perseverance and conviction, we will definitely lead to the path of excellence in spite of the steep challenges. Resistance and failure will not impede our road of triumph rather they will fuel and empower us with stronger resilience.
