Soar, Session 2015-2016

 

Before all glittering individuals shine on their own platform, they have gone through a treacherous journey.

 

“Soar” is undoubtedly one of the prominent processes in shaping those so-called successful figures. We choose it to be our cabinet’s name as the word echoes with our aspiration and passion. We pledge to do our utmost in serving the society and make it progress through various means, such as restructuring GEO-NEWS into GeoAddress, a more concise and trendy version of the society’s iconic publication, and increasing the intensiveness of field trip. All our ideas revolve around this word “Soar”, our cabinet’s universal value. We hope that our innovative ideas can help foster the development of GGAS, like the gliding eagles on the sky.

 

The proverb goes, “No pain, no gain.” “Soar” also implies the persistence of continuing the voyage despite any imminent obstacles. We regard perseverance as one of our cabinet’s core values, and we are indefatigable, as we do understand that we are part of the nature. Like birds which can only soar when they have overcome constraints like physical fatigue and fluctuating weather conditions, we cannot escape from either external or internal challenges anyway. The cabinet name “Soar” will definitely remind us of our universal value, especially amid the unimaginably difficult moments in the future.

 

Birds can soar freely, and its fundamental cause is that they will nott be impeded while atmosphere does not possess any naturally predisposed barrier. The act “Soar” can also symbolise that we will not be constrained by any rigid margins when we are brainstorming ideas, and we dare to think outside the box. We believe that there will be a lot of possibilities opening to us, and we dare to pave a new road for the fortune of our Members, the University, and even the entire society.

 

“Soar” gives an enthusiastic and positive impression too and we hope that it can also represent our cabinet’s image. We wish to bring GGAS to the next stage on the basis of “Soar”, and fulfill our ultimate goal of promoting geography, both internally and externally.
